Pastor Lou is a great communicator, and consequently a great teacher. His instruction is concise, and he will patiently go to great lengths to help his students understand a lesson. His gentle demeanor quietly fosters concentration and diligence, yet when his students need correction, he is able to help them understand their mistakes and encourage them to succeed. Hannah (former Latin and Greek student)
Pastor Lou Going has been my Latin teacher for three years. He has always been very meticulous, knowledgeable and patient. He is never afraid to say he is wrong, but rather strives to be better. He challenges, and presses you through. I would highly recommend him for any classroom. Simon (former Latin student)
I have been a Latin student of Mr.Going's for 4 years. I started Latin with him when I was going to be joining a more advanced Latin group than the level I was at and he helped me catch up during summer vacation. When I finished this I proceeded to the more advanced Latin class and spent one year with him. I am now in my fourth year of Latin with Mr.Going. At all times I have found Mr.Going to be a dependable man who is always up to the challenge of taking on a new student and teaching him/her the language of Latin. He is always changing his schedule to match my fellow student's and my own schedule. He is a very forgiving teacher who is always working towards a goal. He is a kind man who is more than willing to give you an extra chance on a test or homework assignment. Ansen (former Latin student)
We have known Louis Going for 13 years. He has taught two of our children in the disciplines of Latin and Greek. Our son received two years of Greek instruction and has a desire to apply it to his college Bible courses. He believes that it was a rare opportunity to have this instruction in high school and is thankful for Lou’s dedication to the subject and concern for his success. Our daughter received her first two years of Latin study within one year under Mr. Going’s instruction. He was very attentive to her ability to move quickly through the material and felt she could be successfully challenged to complete both years within one academic calendar. His care to observe strengths and weaknesses and address either for the better of the child gives a parent great confidence in his abilities. We would certainly recommend Mr. Going as an instructor. Korina (parent of former student)
My son went on to complete two more years of Latin with Reverend Going and is currently in his fourth year. He attends classes with high school aged students but Reverend Going has been able to keep the curriculum manageable for my son while continuing to challenge the other students. He does this in part by offering additional time as needed. The knowledge gained from the study of Latin has helped my son with his other studies by improving his vocabulary and increasing his understanding of grammar. In addition to studying sentence structure and vocabulary the students are exposed to ancient history. I would highly recommend Reverend Going and the Latin program to other parents who want to strengthen their child’s education as well as help them to build character and confidence in academics and life. Daphne (parent of former student)
We highly recommend Mr. Going and the Agnus Dei Latin program. The private tutorials allow our daughter to learn at her own pace and are extremely convenient with our family's schedule. The ability to learn at home online creates a stress-free setting allowing her to find joy in learning a new language. Mr. Going is always encouraging and inspiring, helping to build her confidence. She looks forward to her weekly lessons. Through the Agnus Dei program, our daughter has been able to expand and strengthen her knowledge of both the Latin and English languages." Mr. Louis Going provided my son with excellent and seamless Latin instruction during the wake of the pandemic when the universal closing of academic institutions disrupted the progress of students everywhere. Willing to adapt to changing times, Mr. Going promptly moved to an online classroom format, allowing my son to proceed in his Latin studies with two other middle schoolers without losing any momentum. With discipline and encouragement as hallmarks of his teaching, Mr. Going prepared my son well to enter high school as an advanced Latin student. Two more of my children will soon benefit from Mr. Going’s private instruction. Mr. Going’s clever classroom setup is a practical mix of tradition and technology, offering flexibility for the remote scholar without forgoing the advantages of live presentation and discussion. Mr.Going’s familiarity with different Latin curricula enables him to customize a course for the adept Latin student, who may desire a more ambitious pace, and for the struggling Latin student, who may require remedial and patient tutelage. Additionally, Mr. Going teaches aspects of ancient Roman culture and English grammar essentials, which assuredly benefit the serious classical student. Thanks to Mr. Going’s curriculum, my son performed very well on the National Latin Exam. I also appreciate how Mr. Going begins and ends every session with prayer. As conventional schools diminish the importance of classical Christian studies, Mr. Going joins the movement of passionate liberal arts mentors, endeavoring to revitalize classical education and restore our Christian culture. Bravo! We are ever grateful for Mr. Louis Going and his Agnus Dei Latin program! (Mary Anne, parent of a former Latin student)
