I have been a Latin student of Mr.Going's for 4 years. I started Latin with him when I was going to be joining a more advanced Latin group than the level I was at and he helped me catch up during summer vacation. When I finished this I proceeded to the more advanced Latin class and spent one year with him. I am now in my fourth year of Latin with Mr.Going. At all times I have found Mr.Going to be a dependable man who is always up to the challenge of taking on a new student and teaching him/her the language of Latin. He is always changing his schedule to match my fellow student's and my own schedule. He is a very forgiving teacher who is always working towards a goal. We have known Louis Going for 13 years. He has taught two of our children in the disciplines of Latin and Greek. Our son received two years of Greek instruction and has a desire to apply it to his college Bible courses. He believes that it was a rare opportunity to have this instruction in high school and is thankful for Lou’s dedication to the subject and concern for his success. Our daughter received her first two years of Latin study within one year under Mr. Going’s instruction. He was very attentive to her ability to move quickly through the material and felt she could be successfully challenged to complete both years within one academic calendar. My son went on to complete two more years of Latin with Reverend Going and is currently in his fourth year. He attends classes with high school aged students but Reverend Going has been able to keep the curriculum manageable for my son while continuing to challenge the other students. He does this in part by offering additional time as needed.The knowledge gained from the study of Latin has helped my son with his other studies by improving his vocabulary and increasing his understanding of grammar. In addition to studying sentence structure and vocabulary the students are exposed to ancient history. I would highly recommend Reverend Going and the Latin program to other parents who want to strengthen their child’s education as well as help them to build character and confidence in academics and life. Mr. Louis Going provided my son with excellent and seamless Latin instruction during the wake of the pandemic when the universal closing of academic institutions disrupted the progress of students everywhere. Willing to adapt to changing times, Mr. Going promptly moved to an online classroom format, allowing my son to proceed in his Latin studies with two other middle schoolers without losing any momentum. With discipline and encouragement as hallmarks of his teaching, Mr. Going prepared my son well to enter high school as an advanced Latin student. Two more of my children will soon benefit from Mr. Going’s private instruction.
